
These soft buns are easy to make, pleasantly fluffy, and perfect for burgers.
Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 1/2 cube fresh yeast
- 2.5 dl lukewarm water
- 0.5 dl lukewarm milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- salt
- 3 tablespoons butter (60 g)
- 1 egg yolk, for brushing
- a little cream, for brushing
- seeds or sea salt, optional for topping

- Warm the milk and butter together in a bowl until just lukewarm.
- Add the yeast and 1 teaspoon of sugar, leave for a few minutes until the yeast starts to react.
- Add the flour and knead the dough.
- Add the egg and salt, then knead again until the dough becomes smooth and elastic.
- Remove the dough from the bowl, shape it into a ball, place it in a floured bowl, cover with cling film or a damp kitchen towel, and let it rise for about 30 minutes in a warm place.
- Line a baking tray with baking paper.
- Knead the dough briefly again, divide it into 6-8 pieces, and shape them into balls.
- Place the buns on the prepared tray with some space between them and gently flatten them.
- Leave them to rise for another 15 minutes, covered. In the meantime, preheat the oven to 200 °C.
- Mix the egg yolk with the cream and carefully brush the buns. If you like, sprinkle them with seeds or sea salt.
- Bake for about 25 minutes, until golden brown.
- The burger buns are best when still slightly warm from the oven.
